Yew Tree House
NPAS was appointed to create a bespoke design for Yew Tree House in Goodleigh, a self-build dwelling set in the picturesque Devon countryside. This project aims to deliver a highly sustainable and contemporary home that harmonises with its rural setting. The design incorporates solar panels on the roof to enhance energy efficiency, while abundant natural light floods the space, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The front garden features stylish outdoor furniture and wooden sleepers that form part of a low wall, blending aesthetics with functionality.

The site, located within the development boundary of Goodleigh village, is bordered by existing homes and agricultural land, providing a serene backdrop for this new dwelling. The design strategy emphasises maintaining the natural landscape, retaining established trees and hedgerows to preserve the site’s ecological value.
The proposed dwelling will feature painted render, brick accents, and a striking stone chimney stack, ensuring it complements the predominant materials of the locality. With a spacious layout of 253.5m² over two storeys, the home is thoughtfully positioned to minimise visual impact from the main road, offering privacy and tranquility.
The architectural approach prioritises open spaces and a flow that enhances the quality of living. Careful consideration has been given to solar orientation, ensuring the interiors benefit from maximum sunlight throughout the day. The landscape design will further promote biodiversity, contributing to a minimum 10% net gain in ecological value for the site.
